Meanwhile, I did some more googling and I found where they say the worst of the surge is in the right forward quadrant.
So as the storm is now expected to sort of roll along the coast this may mean there will be only moderate surge in the more Southern locations and much more of it in the more N locations where it may land too. It all does not look good though: the system will re-build and strengthen once over the gulf stream
(water there is about 28 degs right now).
So it is as in your pictures.
