Staying in Brasil

We are presently in Uruguay, planning to sail northbound to Brasil with our Dutch registered Lagoon 380.
Anyone can tell us how long the boat can stay there free of import duties.

Foreign boats are generally allowed a 6-months stay. You can get extensions, as this ancient law is probably meant for ships and does not take the length of the coast in consideration. I stayed for almost 3 years (Canadian registered boat), and found out that different places had different "tolerances". The Southern states are strict, but as you move north to Bahia and beyond, they become more laid back.
