Thats a good question. Sometimes you have no choice.

On our most recent trip, we bypassed the bad neighborhood.

God will protect you so no need for firearms.
Back to the actual topic. Try to avoid areas where you don’t feel safe. Seems simple enough, if you think it’s a bad area then stay far away. Far, far away.

Re: Standing Watch in High Crime Anchorage

So if you’re standing watch for security, but you won’t/can’t fend off the aggressors, wouldn’t that make you standing watch as a welcome committee?

If you really had to anchor somewhere sporty, I’d run dark but if someone was heading towards you flip on all the lights. Seems like that would be the most you really could do given your chosen places to stay and your lack of any self protection.

Not the word of the Gospel, but perhaps more appropriate thoughts to consider given the benefit of hindsight in relation to world history

Re: Standing Watch in High Crime Anchorage

better to have it" fire arms" and not need it than to need it/fire arms and not have it. ANYONE that thinks firearms are not needed don't need fire extinguishes, safety lines or life boats. The simple solution with be to declare ALL U.S. flag ships embassies and anything on board is protected accordingly BUT once anything illegal to that country is removed then it is that countries right to act accordingly.

Re: Standing Watch in High Crime Anchorage

I have been thinking about what to do if someone came on board . Having guns is a non starter for me as I beleive for most people they will cause more trouble than they will solve . That said I have been looking at a strobe flash light . They appear to be legal everywhere and dont look different from a normal flash light .
Never having experienced one I pulled my one and hopefully only Trump manoeuvre, I looked at it for split second . Wow my vision was off for 5 minutes ,so now I am researching which one to get .
For thus that were wondering “my” vison is back to normal.
A hint for missionaries, historically your reputation is not that great, perhaps minding your own business might be the best course of action
