Spinnaker: Should I Get One ?

OK I admit it I'm a sailing newbie. There I feel better.

I bought a Catalina 30 last year which is my first sailboat. I have to say I'm hooked and love every minute spent aboard. I live in Michigan and my mind has been running all winter as my boat sat on the hard. One of the things I've been thinking about is installing a spinnaker. My mast looks as though it had one at sometime in the past but nothing else remains. As I look around the web it seems as though I can set up a spinnaker for under a couple of grand. So anyway what do you all think? Is it worth doing?

I've got a asymmetrical (cruising schute) that I believe would work on your boat.. It was brought into my shop a couple years ago for a Spinnaker Sock to be built for it and the guy has never come back to pick it up.. It still has that crakle to it so I would think it has little use..
If you are interested, give me a shout..

YES. They're totally fun. It can get a little wild in high winds, so proceed with care. A friend that knows the tricks might be a good thing to have for the first time out.
