Sounds in the night ...

I always sleep with one ear on the boat but last weekend I was awakened by a very large seal using my Hunter as his scraping post just inches from my head.

At first I thought the tide had brought a large deadhead into contact but then there was the clear sound of breathing through a blowhole and he repeated the process scraping the whole length of the boat. This time when he was a few inches from my head I banged on the hull and yelled at him to "Get Lost!"

What? Barnacles make a sound? Is it like a big city full of barnacles all talking and hanging out? Are these barnacles growing on your hull?

It did occur to me that the seal was scraping my hull but the thing is I just painted her a couple of weeks back.

Thread Error H404....

Hunters so bad even nature is against them.

There, all better now. Let the games begin.

To make my comment germane, I don't spook easy on a boat. The only peculiar sound I can recall I incorporated into a dream. In the dream I was in a woodshop and some handsawing was taking place. After a bit I woke up because of the incongruity of audio in my dream. It was a painter from a visiting skiff which was busily sawing into the rubrail. The skiff was about trapped under the dock on the flood tide. Don't trust anyone to tie off to your boat anymore.
