Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

I always liked the signs that say:

"Trespassers will be shot. Survivors will be shot again"

Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

People acturally knock on your boat to get you to come out to ask you this? How rude! people wuldn't of walking up your house ringing your door bell, just to ask who built your house.

I doubt any sign is going to stop people who would knock to ask you should a thing!

Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

Hang a condom, or two, over the toe rail, by your cockpit. I know I wouldn't knock.

Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

We have had a similar discussion in the anchoring section. Just start singing barry manilow when they come up to the boat. It should work, especially if you are a male in a gstring.

A recording of a heard of hungry dogs could help.

Right! Now you are going to get visitors that you probably REALLY didn't want!

Pretend you are not there?

If caught out, say: "some (beep) has just woken me up, have you seen them?".

Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

Capt KJ- about 20 years ago I was entering the Hotel De Haro in Roach Harbor, San Juan Island and I bumped right into Barry Manilo on his way out and I knocked him right on his ass! He was somewhat unhappy -poor guy!
As per the post-kayakers are the worst! They paddle around and glare at you and ask a bunch of stupid questions.
I think the yellow "Q" flag or a solid red with, "WARNING! MENTALLY DERANGED VIETNAM VET ON BOARD! DOESN'T PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS!"
Or something to that affect.

Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

Would it be possible to anchor out and get to your boat by dinghy?

That's what I do. I'm the nicest, most sociable bloke in the world, and in 5 years I've only had one visitor. And he was glad to leave a few hours later...

Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

I have heard it said that a man that can and wants to be alone is truly happy..I like people and if I saw a flag advertising a Vietnam Vet that would make me want to talk even more and the G string thing or even a Speedo would make me move on..I know some men are comfortable wearing them but it gives me the willys..what about one of those hotel signs Do not disturb...

Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

I would think a simple sign.

It would work to keep me away.

But I only read one language.

Bah-hahaha. I met a Texan sailor in the Marquesas who wore a metallic turquoise thong (and nothing else). Unfortunately, I believe he was actively looking for attention …
