As noted above, this should be handled the same way adoptions are. If one knows or finds the "looked for" party, that party can be notified that they are being "looked for", and then leave it up to them to see if they want to reply.

What we don't want to become is a "lost & found" for cruisers. Many of these folks have disappeared for a reason - good and bad. Now, if "Dog the Bounty Hunter" posts, THEN what do we do!

In todays age of instant communications, many people get almost hysterical when they can't reach out and touch someone by phone 24/7. I've had guest sailing with me in the BVI were we were away from wifi for a day and they almost went bananas. Sure I could easily buy a cell card... but why??? NOTE: I also do not take my cell with me when I go to the head.... or potty on land... LOL sometime you just need private time!!!
