Solo circumnavigation starts today! New log to follow!

Well, the time has come. My lap around the globe will start in just a few hours. The boat is fully ready to go and fully provisioned. Just a few more emails to type, some media stuff to take care of, and then I will be leaving for Hawaii.

As many of you may or may not know, I will be sailing around the world, creating documentary films, in hopes of this funding my voyage. So far, it looks like everything is going to work out. My brother is going to be running a website for me, and I will be emailing him from sea, hopefully every day with a ship's log and short account of what's going on.

I am 23 and I began sailing 6 months ago when I purchased my boat. I have not done any real offshore sailing, up to this point, and I will be going to Hawaii solo. Local news (san diego) will be at the dock in just over an hour, so I have to get going. I should be on the Channel 10 evening news tonight, but my brother is going to try to link the video to our site, so that everyone can see it.

To everyone on the forum who has been in my corner, and has sent me words of wisdom, words of encouragement, and words of caution, thank you.

See you in Hawaii.

You will be able to follow my journeys every single day, including ship's log, current position and more. When in Hawaii, the site will be extensively updated with pictures and video. Welcome to the Open Blue Horizon | Open Blue Horizon | Hope, is the site.

Ronnie

I only recently met you here several days ago. Today I found your site, and was deeply impressed. I am sure that when you step foot ashore in Hilo. You will first feel, later hear, and learn to see. Make sure you make the trek to Akaka Falls, and listen to her song

You will be married to La Cenicienta, and at times she will need you. No matter how tired, or discouraged you are. You will need to answer her call. Providing this will get you what you need from her. It is a partnership just like a marriage!...BEST WISHES young man

Perhaps there are those who will read this thread without knowing how it "turned out" for Ronnie. Here's a link to a loooooooong thread about the difficulties he experienced and what ensued:

Yeah does not end as well as one would hope. Gotta give the give him some credit for not just sulking after he abandon the boat. He just bought a bicycle and is cruising through SE Asia toward and making his way to Spain. I believe he is in Cambodia currently.
