Simbo/Twin Rig Using Gennaker

Hi all,

This is just a thought. We plan a crossing in the next two years with a very limited crew of 2 plus child which is a big plus on the fun side but a minus on making sure he's safe.

After reading I came across Simbo/Twin Sails rig for downwind sailing which looked just what we needed in terms of safety and ease of use.

The problem is that budget wise I don't really want to buy another sail and thought about converting my gennaker to the task. I can sew a rope to its leading edge and have it up together with the furling genoa.

In terms of dimensions they are not the same ofcourse but would it really matter that much?

In my area we don't have any second hand market so I'm trying to think of any creative solution to it.
