Shoestring Sailors (Cruising on $500 per month - part II)

well I did not build the heathkit, the guy that built my boat back in the Earily 70's did. That said, I have build z80 processor control boards from parts, even did some prototyping, just for fun.... I'm a little nerdish sometimes too, maybe more then a little. I was helping a friend bring an old 1950's jukebox back to life yesterday.

Oh drat, I'm off topic again.....

I keep my inflatable kayak folded up and tied down in front of the sliding hatch. It's a poor girls seahood too

What about living aboard for free ? Catching fish and/or diving for Lobster/Clams for food. And possible piracy if and when cash may be needed ?

keep citrus fruits away from vegtables,preferably where the citrus fruits are well ventilated as they will cause other veg to rot much faster if in the same compartment.

potato,and cabbage are best kept in sawdust in a locker where no light can enter.

pumpkins and squash if wrapped in newspaper and not subject to bruising and movement will keep for many months in the bottom of a locker in the dark.

I saw a movie years ago where this couple (male&female) cruised around the caribbean. When they saw another sailboat they would sail up to it, befriend them and then shoot the occupants killing them dead, steal whatever on their boat and then sink said boat with the people they shot secured in said boat. In the movie they never were caught. Just saying

AHHH ya better start watching better movies LOL before someone lights ya up !! some of us have been known to get very hostile about folks sailing right up to us !!and ya just need to see what a real Big flare do to a boat !! Just sayin

Makes a better seahood than proper dink I bet.

Transporting water, anchor kedging, fishing and diving, ferrying the occasional late eve "guest", keeping dry in the rain, maintaining vessel, laundry hauling, ice and groceries, a case of beer to boat... not going to do any of these things half as well as a proper, if smallish, dink. I'd guess that a kayak, inflatable or otherwise, would be such a pita (along with an older, leaky inflatable that one would row) is a surefire recipe for moving into a trailer parkish slip sooner rather than later.

The shoestring sailor would be unlikely to be buzzing around in an RIB and outboard.

Low budget boating is all about choices .

I am no expert , but I rather suspect that approach would not meet the CF "play nice" rule........

Last Summer I had a group of these pot growers charter the boat & it was really interesting to have them all aboard- they were making $200,000 a year each!5 woman & 1 man
