Re: Shoestring Sailors (Cruising on $500 per month - part II)

Its a Raritan PHII manual. I installed it 5 years ago and have lived aboard ever since. I also use scott toilet paper and it goes down the head too. Maybe I'm just lucky. I do have a few spare joker valves but so far the Vinegar works well. OH my holding tank is only 2 feet from the head too.

Oh, "I'm a little Dinghy" is my favorite TSS (Troll sailing song)..

Or maybe "A Boat over troubled water",

Or that perennial favorate, "I've got that broken down Bilge Pump Blues"

OK everyone now.....And a one and a two...

PS: Sorry for the thread drift. (which could be another song title too)

Re: Shoestring Sailors (Cruising on $500 per month - part II)

i have a jabsco that only has a clogged intake hose--started in sd with a lil octopus in residence, then grew to be salt filled....vinegar doesnt get into the intake hose from the head.... so i get to pop it off and fix(clean out) the hose-- the pump is fine, after 5 yrs or more of use.

Re: Shoestring Sailors (Cruising on $500 per month - part II)

when repairing sails by hand that the stiching has failed.
remove the old thread and use the old holes ,so they line up as the guide for the new repair.

a smaller size sail needle works better,a palm and a pair of pliers are useful for thicker sections.

Re: Shoestring Sailors (Cruising on $500 per month - part II)

I have had numerous opportunities (Life Threatening heath issues)to use the health care system in Canada.
And i can tell you from personal experience the free Medical care was A#1 i doubt you could find any finer system in all the world.
On the other hand if you just have a boo boo you may have to wait inline.

Its not as bad as you hear,,the news is always slanted.

I wouldn't call it "free". GST, HST, inccome tax, etc. Those always seem to be left out when people say they have free health care. Just pointing out the obvious.
