Shipping Boat...?

Looking to buy Selene 53 in Florida and need to ship to San Diego, California, on freighter. Anyone ever done this? How does it work? How safe will it be?
How much does it cost?

Re: Shipping Boat...?

Dunno, but I'd price it alongside the costs (including wear and tear) of hiring a delivery captain to sail it over on her bottom...there are more than a few good ones on this forum alone.

Could be, but shipping from FL to CA via the Canal aint gonna be cheap either.

Delivered a 48 ketch to Ensenada last summer for transport to Florida on a heavy-lift ship, crane on, crane off, no rig removal. $20,000.

Re: Shipping Boat...?

Yesterday I watched a boat with Yatch Transport written on the side sail into Moreton bay with 13 masts sticking up over the top of a very odd looking boat, about 1/2 the size of a container ship. I looked it up, it's owned by a US company to freight boats all around the world.

Get this, it is float on, float off, the boat sinks, flooding the deck to a low boats on and off. I guess it makes it's way around the world dropping off and picking up as needed.
