Selling a boat in Venzuela, Trinidad, Tobago

I'm interested in selling my 1982 Tartan 37 in Venezuela, Trinidad or Tobago. The alternative would be sailing all the way back to the United States to sell it, which is undesirable ahead of hurricane season. Does anyone have any information about the boat markets of these countries? Is it difficult to sell in these countries? How much if any will the value of the boat be deminished by selling down here as opposed to Ft. Lauderdale?

Can't tell you how hard it is to sell in these countries from personal experience, however I have had several friends who have sold there. One in Trinidad (actually in Tobago, agent was in Trinidad), the other friend sold in Venezuela. Here is the agent in Venezuela, http://venezuelanyachts.com. My friend said he found them in several classifieds in Cruising World magazine and they were pretty good. He claims he got the same price as he could have here. Although, I think it was more that he sold the boat to an American couple who wanted to sail the lesser Antilles and since the boat was already there... you know the rest. Hope it helps!
