I have my boat listed on another website
, and I got an email
on it. The person had a very english
sounding name and wanted to text me his questions. I thought "Shoo! I don't want to type that much!" so I called him. Very heavy unfamiliar accent (not spanish, not India
, not russian, not asian) and I couldn't understand him. So, OK, now I know why he wants to text!
He ends up making an offer, sight unseen, subject to survey
. I thought "cool"! So I typed up some terms and emailed it to him. In the email
I asked for his address and employer to verify he is an upstanding citizen.
He refuses to give me his address (strike one).
Then he declines my suggestion to go through a Title Service
Company to protect both of us - he doesn't have the time. Wants to send me a check or make a bank to bank transfer (strike two). I said fine, send me a check!
Then he starts to be suspicious, "why is there something wrong with the boat?". No I said, glad to have your surveyor
look at it, it's a great boat. Suddenly, no more texts from him! (strike three).
Be careful out there!
