Cool Samana, Dominican Republic

Hello all,
does anyone have updated info on mooring in samana bay, D.R.? i am based in Luperon...i wish to sail to Samana this Nov. for 2-3 weeks...the plan is to sail there, spend a few days exploring, then leave the boat at a secure anchorage for about 2 weeks, then return and sail back to Luperon. I would like advice on places to moor, costs if known, and security issues. the boat is 42 ft with a 6 ft draft. thank you in advance, john

Hi John,

unfortunately I've never moored in D.R. but your schedule seems very good.

I've never sailed outside mediterranean sea. I think it'd be beautiful sailing in the Caribbean.

I would be very reluctant about leaving a boat anywhere in the DR without someone watching it. I love the DR but it's people are poor and there is blatent crime everywhere.
