Getting the details right is just good journalism.

Re: Sailor abandons boat off Florida coast
It wouldn't be a bad story if he was 17-20. Everyone gets into a little trouble sometimes. But at 31 with a 2 year old daughter you should have something figured out by now.

Re: Sailor abandons boat off Florida coast
What a flake. I wonder who supplies him his pot for free.
And his mother came to get him. Probably grew up in one of those households where there are no "losers".
He doesn't want to live in our capitalist society but has no problem leeching off folks who do.

Re: Sailor abandons boat off Florida coast
This is my favorite quote.
“I always try to get my basic necessities free: food, shelter, water, love,” Turner said. “That’s kind of like a mantra of mine. If you can find those things free then you really don’t need much from the capitalist world in general.”
So the nasty capitalist world is OK if it produces and contributes free food and shelter to him as long as he doesn't have to get his hands dirty.

Why does he have to have dreadlocks and smoke pot..?
I know a few very competent sailors meeting that description.. ones around 21 and skippers his own 35ft tri around the Caribbean..
Addendum... has the Dreadlocks.. not the pot.

Re: Sailor abandons boat off Florida coast
I don't know if it speaks well or ill of our society that a man like that can feel right at home in America, and buy a boat no less. I wonder if his daughter could use the $10 a month he'll be paying to the county?
