Volusia County sure did not have much problem deciding what to do with the boat. $200 to the towing company and it was in the dump in the same day!

Well, he did have the balls to give it a shot! Unlike you fellas who would never stray from the herd ............

And he will be back after he pays what he owes at $10.00 a month.

Re: Sailor abandons boat off Florida coast

So a truck shows up at a stranded boat, on the beach, hooks it up and hauls it to the dump miles away for $200 bucks. Try getting a 1/2 mile tow from SeaTow without their insurance and see if it only costs you $200 bucks.

Last year a guy capsized his 16' or so boat in the cut at Panama City Fl beach, Seatow showed up and wanted $600 to tow him the 1/2 mile to the State Park ramp he had put in at. He didn't have that kind of money so I towed him in, for most of the tow, Seatow and a couple of the Fish and Game boats watched.
I was pretty surprised that the Fish and Game boats didn't offer to assist in any way, and they way they watched us, I expected some kind of ticket.
I do have Seatow insurance, be crazy not to.

100 miles in the Atlantic in a $500 23' sailboat. It qualifies him as a sailor. Not a good one certainly but a sailor in my book.

I think he deserves his anchor tattoo if he wants one.

It is possible that in losing his boat, that he lost a step up from sleeping in a box or under a bridge.

Can you remember the line? There but for the grace ..........

Re: Sailor abandons boat off Florida coast

Its sad that he lost his boat and his dream ( hate to hear of any sailboat that is lost). But Darwin may have just dived bombed him and he only just missed getting the Darwin Award- this time. Reading one book does not make anyone a sailor. It makes them Dangerous!

Sheesh.
