Lots of good advice - but one downside with asking the Captain
etc is easy to get the response "don't worry - just bring yourself". I'd still ask, but even if Captain
said not to I would still not turn up empty handed unless I knew that there would definately
be the opportunity to put my hand in my pocket ashore. A Bar works well for that
or restaurant............or even simply buying
all the icecreams and drinks ashore if the opportunity arises.
So what to bring? given you have asked and they said no need then you don't need to bring a 7 course dinner for all
I would go with munchies of some sort - plenty of climate appropriate munchies (ie not meltable
)..........and that's for everyone
to share.............and you don't take any that are left home
Next time, if a next time!, you will know what a day out consists of - particularly the food
- so you can provide part of the days menu (shop bought or home made) in conjunction with the Captain, or if Captain still reluctant you know what would work well as an addition to bring anyway...........or stick to the munchies again
A strange boat that does not welcome back crew known to arrive bearing nice food
But no hard and fast rules, asking tends to work and also putting yer hand in yer pocket - somehow.
