Sailing from New Caledonia to Cairns in July

Hi, Has anyone had any experience in entering New Caledonia from Australia by Air and then leaveing by sea for australia (approx 1 week later), I have read that a return airfare may be required so as to gain entry into Noumea. Noonsite suggest for the captain to go to the Noumea authorities and request a letter, problem is all crew and captain are in Australia so we can't access the authorities in noumea to get a letter stamped. regards, Bluespot
