A nice area to sail but too hot for most folks in August! Make sure you get to Cumberland Island, one of the nicest spots on the waterway.

Good yard. My boat's there too but I won't be down until late November. If you like the Waterway go south to Ft. George River, a nice spot to spend a day or two. I'ts about half a day's run.

Re: Sailing from fernandina beach

If you go to the eight flags antique market downtown and ask for the owner she will tell you all about the sailing community there in Fernandina and Amelia island..I have forgotten the attractive and sweet ladys name that owns it but she has or had a boyfriend that was a very active sailor in the area and he was very knowledgable and had a passion for all things sailing (son was an Olympics sailor) I think her name is Ronda..tell her the guy that operated the Paramotor flight school on the beach named Daryl sent you ...good luck ...DVC

Re: Sailing from fernandina beach

Hi Michel,

If you take the ICW south from Fernandina be careful to stay in the channel. There are a couple of places where the channel is fairly narrow and shoaling right at the edge. This is in long straight section where the markers are kind of far apart so easy to drift out of the channel if you're not watching closely.

Sorry my boat is not in the water a the moment so won't get to join you.

Have fun.
