Re: Sailing at Anchor

Hi all. My tendency for wind and current offset anchor balance is to watch an wait and set the best natural flow balance for wind and water. If adjustment is needed then anchor lines to mid-ships strong points are good, true and always LAST option before away and reset anchor. Please learn to true the vessel to the conditions before reset into local danger conditions. Kindly. A.

Re: Sailing at Anchor

An alternative to the hammerlock is to place a heavy mushroom anchor as a kellet on your chain let out enough scope that it is in the floor. Being a mushroom it wont dig in but it will drag.

Re: Sailing at Anchor

Rig a "winch bridal." Keeps the boat from sailing at anchor. It can also align a hull to ride a swell when the wind pushes the boat into an uncomfortable angle to the swell.

A Bruce or Lewmar Claw will do pretty much the same at very short scope.
