Sailboat tank shape

Are this tank shape for sailboat good?

"Finned" areas can look good on first look as diesel "micro scarp" can go there... but if bad weather push, this all will go higher "up". On other side, if bottom of tank is flat "micro scarp" go usually in diesel engine filter and less exist on bottom on any way.

Have this any logic? Are better flat or "finned" tank bottom for sailboat?

Any tank shape is fine so long as you have a place to fit it.

Re: Sailboat tank shape

very few compartments on sailboats are exactly a rectangular box -- and if there are, that's often because space was sacrificed to make them such.

what kind of sailboat?

Re: Sailboat tank shape

The exterior shape doesn't matter at all, just make sure it has baffles and you are in business. Your primary and secondary fuel filters will take care of the "micro scarp".
