You know it drives us agents just a little crazy when clients compare rates? ! Sure, I encourage you to shop around, but there are so many variables - boat age, location, length, speed, value, anti-heft devices, safety equipment, navigation territory, deductible, liability level, your age, experience, training, & sometimes even your credit rating that can affect the rate. What are the chances that your parameters for all of the above exactly the same as anyone else's? So don't be surprised when your rate is different than another poster's!

And above all, be sure to find out the rating for the company that you choose to insure with. Ask for an actual print out of the D&B, AM Best or Fitch rating. That should eliminate 90% of the scams, (some of which are mentioned in this very thread).

Secondly, beware any quote that arrives without a policy booklet or at least a link to one.

Thirdly, beware any quote that does not list what the security (underwriter) is for the policy. Failure to mention the underwriter is a huge clue that they're trying to hide something.

Suggest you do some research on the internet about this company BEFORE you commit, Google Edward William Marine reviews
