Sacramento River Delta and SF Bay Boatyards

I am considering a 42' sailboat that is in the Delta. It needs a refit and paint inside & out. We're looking for a DIY boatyard somewhere in the Bay Area or in the Delta that can haul a multihull and that will allow us to do a lot of our own work with a nice campground nearby or a lot of cheap rentals or even houseboat rentals. We will need a good chandlery and a good hardware store nearby as well. We plan to get down to cruising trim (down to maybe 10 boxes of uselessness in my mom's attic plus suitcases and tools to go) and be ready to go cruising, but take a refit detour for a few months and cruise the Delta a bit at first when the boat is done.
What say you, wise old crustaceans? Anything inexpensive and good out there sans gunfights and meth labs?

This is funny, the spell checker doesn't recognize chandlery.

It might be the boatyard with campground somewhere in the Delta but I don't know any of them at SF Bay. I use and like Bay Marine in Richmond.
Welcome to Bay Marine Boatworks
I was always happy with them, no hidden charges, people are helpful and give reasonable advise, and they are professional. I see people living on their boats while in the boatyard...
I don't know any car rental place nearby but most places would pick you up and drop you off in the end of rental.

Take a look at the Napa Valley Marina. Its on the Napa River, about 10 miles upstream from Vallejo. They are one of the few marinas I know of on the West coast that can haul a catamaran; they have (relatively) cheap DIY rates, and alot of hard-stand space; their chandlery is adequate at best, but with a car, you can access the excellent chandleries spotted around the Bay Area. The city of Napa is a short drive away, with plenty of hardware stores, and excellent services.
Best of all, its clean, safe, and in a beautiful area.
Good luck,
John

I live on the delta loop, out of Rio Vista and near Isleton.. There has been a recent sale of a boat yard here on the loop, Perry's and has a work surface that drops into the water, designed for older large wooden boats.. You'd have to call them to see if your boat would fit on the lift...
