My wife became much more relaxed on the water after completing her Competent Crew with Mark, because we had so many Man Overboard drills it became second nature to grab things out of the water in a few minutes. He also convinced her to do engine checks daily, something she now loves to do.
Symphony, what a great input. Thanks a lot, i will write him and see what he says. Thank you

Re: RYA- Learn to sail holiday Caribbean

Guys, thanks a lot for your input. We certainly would not want to look like someone who do not put enough merit on the matter of learning how to sail. I agree that the harder the conditions, the more one can learn, whether from instructor or just by doing it with guidance.

The thing for us with Caribbean is that we would like to spend third week on ground, exploring some islands. We have been long planning to do something extraordinary and this would be it.

At the same time we realize that after two weeks of sailing one cannot learn all and therefore we would not even contemplate hiring a boat. We would like to gain more experience here in the Uk. Maybe find someone looking for crew for weekend sailing in Brighton or so.

Re: RYA- Learn to sail holiday Caribbean

I want to thank Chris Mac for the great recommendation! We would love to help you with your sail training - but, we are an American Sailing Association affiliated school, not RYA. If you would consider ASA - let me know and I will be happy to help you out. If you would prefer to stick with RYA training, I would suggest that you check out Grenada Bluewater Sailing, also here in Grenada. I know that they are actually tidal certified - though the truth is we don't have nearly the same tides you will find in England. I have also heard good things about Sail Grenadines up in Bequia.

Let me know if I can help out with any other information about sailing in the Caribbean!

Thank you for coming back to us. We are based in Uk,London a therefore i think it would make more sense for us to stick with RYA. Thank you for your recommendations, i will check them out. All the best

I did the US sailing course with barefoot in the grenadines and was happy with it. Study ahead of time extensively if you are new to sailing or it is too much info for one week.

Not sure if they do rya.

Re: RYA- Learn to sail holiday Caribbean

I can second LTD's recommendation I did both dayskipper and Yacht master with bluewater very nice people and well organized .Yes you are learning but you are also sailing in some of the best conditions that you can find . Makes a great holiday . I would do the theory at home before arriving .you don't want to be studying when you should be watching the sunset . I used an online course called NAVATHOME they are RYA accredited . It was very good for me
