pirate Reenactment group for NC, SC, VA Sailors

Hi! I'm starting a reenactment group for cruisers, sailors and those wanting to learn how to sail. It will be a group that reenacts the 18th century NC sailing community, what the boats were, the art and craft of sailing, what was happening onshore, fishing, merchant fleets, privateers, etc.

ALL THOSE INTERESTED in the pirate life you've heard about in Jimmy Buffet songs, this is for you!

Our plan is to sail to and attend events like Hampton Roads' Blackbeard Festival, Beaufort Pirate Invasion, Charleston Harborfest, etc. Have boat, will travel! Got a boat? Bring it along!

Anyone interested in joining or just following our progress, please check out our site at TAYLOR'S NAVY (Cary, NC) - Meetup.com

Note: At present, this is a charitable/educational organization for those interested in the above. We do not have 501c3 status yet, but it's a possibility.

Thanks, and happy cruising!

Hello, angelgal, and welcome to Cruisers Forum.

Good luck with your reenactment group--sounds like fun! Just so you know, we don't allow soliciting here on the forum, so as long as you don't ask for donations, all will be fine.

Will this group acquire period vessels?

Period Vessels

Plans are in the works for an 8ft cedar dinghy. The Newbold-White house in Hertford, NC possesses a recreated periauger that we might be investigating for several purposes, not least of which being that their site says they are looking for volunteers to crew it on trips around the state. One goal would be to acquire the plans and build another one for travel with our group. Of course, all depends on funds and the success of the group.
