Raymarine Smartpilot

On our recent delivery from the Chesapeake to St John USVI we decided that an autopilot should be fitted to the hunter 34 that was the project boat.
Some of you will have read about the delivery from hell, but more of that in another thread.
We purchased a Raymarine spx5 smartpilot for the voyage with the intention of transferring it to our own cat when we got to St John.
The pilot lasted 4 days before dropping it's inner working ball bearings on the deck and seizing almost solid, which meant removing the wheel to remove the pilot while at sea, not my favorite option but the only one available.
Sent the Smartpilot back to Raymarine in NH and three weeks later they have contacted to say that they will replace under warrenty the unit and all I have to cover is the post.
Seems like a result to me!
Well done Raymarine for doing it right the first time.
Happy customer.

I'm just wondering what is going to be better about the replacement. Was it undersized for your boat?
