Raw water pump rebuild

Winterizing My Yanmar 3ym30 and discovered the water pump">raw water pump not rotating, seized bearing. Most likely will purchase a new pump as there is one available locally to me however, I currently have it disassembled and would like to rebuild to have as a second pump. I have sent emails to a couple yanmar contact sites for parts however have had no response.

Has anyone out there ordered on line these specific bearings/parts as per the 3ym30 parts manual fig. 13 items 17, 18, 19; Bearing x03431760, Bearing x3431748, ripseal x02233010. If so would appreciate the E-address and/or Link.

Re: Raw water pump rebuild

Any chance it's not a Yanmar but maybe a Sherwood or something else? Whatever, there are pump shops and boat yards usually have their catalogs. While stranded in JAX last year I got shaft, seals, bearings etc. the next day from somewhere near there. Pretty big savings over a new pump.

Nickelson - is this a Johnson pump? If so, I can send you the part numbers for the bearings and seals.

Johnson Raw WaterPump F4B-902 10-24509 Rebuild

Provides a source for ceramic bearings costing about half what the Yanmar bearinggs cost. Also gives a source for double lip seal with stainless springs.

Rebuilt my pump with these.

Re: Raw water pump rebuild

My bad, I could only read Jo on the plate and assumed Jobsco
But with a bit of steel wool and a few minutes of elbow grease I see it is indeed a johnson F4B-903 10-13492-01.
Hey sailorman Ed do you have the P/N for the bearings and seal, so the P/N I posted must be converted Yanmar numbers for the parts?
Thanks "Wrong" also for pointing me in the correct direction, no wonder I was laboring

If you measure the bearings outer diameter and shaft diameter with a caliper, it's the only information you need to find replacement bearings. My guess is the difference between the 902 and 903 will not be in the bearings. It is most likely going to be the impeller thickness. Part numbers are typically located on the bearing seal.

Re: Raw water pump rebuild

I've tried locally to obtain bearings by measurements but there is limited available nearby, unfortunately. There is a company 4 hours away that deals in bearings so I’m sure there will be a suitable match, thanks for all the reading info on the subject. I will consider myself now versed in water pumps, subject closed!!

Re: Raw water pump rebuild

I have just removed my pump and all the bearings and seal was very easily obtained at local bearing store,
bearings
6201 2RSH
6001 2RSH
Seal WTK T01 12mm X 24mm X 7mm
These pumps are really very easy to service if you have any workshop tools, if you have an impact gun removing the pulley is a breeze just hold it and rattle away Note 1/2 inch socket same on retaining bolts holding pump to bracket.
Hint see below re modifying seal for salt water, agent at bearing store said even stainless seal retainers fail reasonably quickly in salt water However using this method normally gave far better longer life results. See option 6 and yes it not exact same pump but all pumps really are the same in simple terms, will will do this method to my pump and let all know how it went.
the yanmar pump is much simpler than this one.

Hope this is of some use
Let me know ASAP if anyone sees any problems here Thanks
