Hi Larkin:

I've never heard the types of stories you hear about Whale referring to Little Harbour passage. Our guidebook notes that the passage is pretty straightforward – wide with the reefs on each side pretty visible. I'd still be as prudent as possible, and know the state of tide upon entry.

Spanish Wells is the easiest jumping off point...about 50nm to the Little Harbour passage. Cute little town with moorings & marinas (but the wi-fi was down the last time we were there...that's Batelco!). Dunmore Town is very nice with a lot of anchorage, but you'd wan't to plan carefully coming in or out the devil's backbone. Have fun!

We have experienced rages in Little Harbor that have shut down the entrance for several days.

Rages can occur at most of the cuts. Remember the one at the cut just north of there by Lynyard Cay when a life was lost last year?

Sorry to jump in, but what is a "rage"?

High seas and swells that make a cut impassable.

Normally caused by strong winds blowing toward the swell. ie. A winter storm far to the north generates storm swells travelling toward the SE while the winter trades are blowing to the Nw.
