I am new to sailing, but have been on fishing boats in Alaska as well as have been reading books for over 2 years on sailing.

I was looking for anyone that races sailboats and or is a part of a club and was looking for a crew member.

You might want to try calling the Fleet Captains of different clubs near you to see if they have any suggestions or have crew lists. Many clubs are eager to enroll new members, so they may be happy to help you out with the subtext that you can perhaps join later if things work out well.
