Preference for Bluewater Boat?

Which one do you prefer for cruising ocean? monohull yacth, catamaran or trimaran

I prefer monohull, full keel to full keel with cut away forefoot. I have nothing against tris or cats, I've only gone offshore in monos, so that what I prefer to be in if I have to face a bad storm.

Get ready for a show down amonst the mono and tri/cat groups all weighing in.

I'm with Ocean Girl, for the same reasons, for me it seems that a mono has a better structural integrity in the face of a bad blow. Coming from the north we see more than our share of bad weather, what others call a hurricane, we call another day at work. I have ridden out several 100+kt blows on a mono, no worse for the wear, except lost sleep. I can see the benefit of a multi in southern oceans where a shallow draft might be preferred for island hopping. For me on the deep blue, I want a full keel and one hull.

Mono with full keel is what I know and what has carried me through some intense weather and hard bumps and groundings…..also very sea kindly.

Having said that I think cats are very cool and would like to learn more about them.

Why do you ask, other than to perhaps facilitate controversy, something prevalent on CF???

Different horses for different courses,ive owned both,currently monos.If i planned on high latitude cruising i would want a moderate to heavy disp Mono, if i thought that the canals of Europe may figure into my plans the Mono would get the nod,likewise if i wanted a marina queen, but if the Carribean or the South Pacific were in my plans its a no brainer, i want the huge outdoor living space, less rolling in the tradewinds and at anchor and of course shallow draft. There is no perfect boat and most boat types evolved for a specific purpose,multihulls evolved in the Pacific and are still ideal for that type of cruising grounds.These days many people want to carry so much crap with them that perhaps a boat evolved for cargo hauling (mono) is best for them,i dont think one should be predudiced for or against either type,just pick what suits your style of cruising.

. I'm planing to sailing around coast of Turkey firstly with I want to build my sailboat. after Africa's coast, after crossing ocean.
I can't decide to build which sailboat.
For each case, I have no opportunity to boat.Only one boat can do.

and therefore I want to make accurate and active profile.
