Re: Powerball 1.3 billion

Id fix up my old 1985 Sovereign and hire a couple of 30 year old girls to sail me down to the Caribbean.

Of course I'd spare no expense and upgrade from Sailor Jerry's to Jack Daniels.

With that much cash you could do more worthwhile things than buy bigger toys. I would skim a bit off the top for myself (5%), but the rest I would use for something more worthwhile...along the lines of a mini Gates Foundation.

73' mono sistered to starboard... Wow.. Yes D... I like this!
Oh... and the refit sounds nice too...

The boat completed her 10 year survey work at Peters Schiffbau, Wewelsfleth, Germany. The addition of a new beach club on the port side being the main modification.

I think something in the 60 foot range would suit me fine. Maybe one in multipe locations like sailor boy.
I would just keep a bill roll handy to rubber band around my shwantz...

Re: Powerball 1.3 billion

some nice soul, loan me 10 cents toward purchase of ticket, please.
i only need what is required for haulout and some needed repairs.; i love my boat and lifestyle .
take my 10 cents out the winnings, please.

oh yeah. if i were somewhere they sold tix and bought a winning one, i would give all away except that which i need for survival. money dont buy what ye need in life. so many still need roofs after patricia. 13 homes still without roofs in colimilla, many in cihuatlan, and outlying locales. is still unsettled post storm..

I think it was David Lee Roth who said :
"Money won't buy you happiness, but it will buy you a yacht big enough to pull up next to it".

They say money can't buy happiness but my favorite quote is:

There is only one thing money cannot buy...............

Poverty

Re: Powerball 1.3 billion

The nicest blue water cruiser I could handle..and plenty of time to enjoy it. The rest can go to helping others..I cannot imagine I'd ever need 500+ million plus the interest made every year.
$500,000 for boat (used)
$100,000/year for 30 years
That is still only 3.5 Mil.

Re: Powerball 1.3 billion

I'd still buy the cheap 32ft I am after (keep your fingers crossed for me that the purchase pans out, that's far more important for me than any darned lottery), and get everything 'better than new' done to it all at once, rather than over a few years.

While the renovation was being done, I'd do a few things:

1) buy a small motor yacht to do the ICW Great Loop with (should be no problem getting something new off the shelf around 30ft), and sightsee that part of America (as long as DHS don't throw me out early for having too much fun);

2) think about what I want in a custom built boat. I don't think I want to go any bigger than a 36ft monohull, and I'd probably get Rival Bowman to build it to Lloyds +100 A1

3) as I am now an uncle for the first time in my life (), I'd help BIL and Sis set up their business, and buy whatever they want in the way of a house and business premises, charge a peppercorn rent, and set up a trust fund for my nephew (peppercorn rent can go into the trust fund), and as nephew had the starter base set of a Scalectrix for Christmas, a few more sets so he can have an amazing circuit when he's ready for it.

4) there'd be a heck of a party in the local for all the neighbours.

5) I'd set up a Chandlery network and undercut everybody on the Planet, until people wake TF UP! to how much they are being ripped off (and yeah I'd do wholesale too, so that genuine people can compete). Probably call it NSS (for No S--t Sherlock).

6) once the Chandlery is set up, I'd do the same with a food chain.

7) then with cars

8 then with motorbikes

9) then we would have to see.

Of course it might help, if I actually bought a Lottery ticket . . . . . .

I'm going to buy a waterfront property in Fort Lauderdale and stick out "Anchoring for rich only" signs everywhere.

Re: Powerball 1.3 billion

damn i only need 9950 usd. no more no less. and i need it in installments of 500 usd each. repairs of formosa. then i will have gorgeous boat.
and that is why i only wanna borrow a dime please.
if i have to have more, make sure it is enough to survive until i am dead, and repair boat and fix folks's roofs here in colimilla. there are still 13 unroofed homes here.
