Re: Powerball 1.3 billion
If it got out that you won 1.3 billion you are probably at risk for kidnap. So, first step is keeping you identity secret. If that were not the case, I don't know what boat we would get but my wife would probably insist on a catamaran with a medium sized crew... whatever that is.
There would have to be enough crew quarters for executive security persons and also a chef, a captain, and at least two stews, and an engineer.
That's a big cat... do they make them that big?

Re: Powerball 1.3 billion
If I took home a half billion bucks I would set my sights a little higher than a 50' cat. I'm thinking about chartering something like Grande Blue with a 73' mono and a 68' powerboat on the back to liveaboad while my custom job is built.

Re: Powerball 1.3 billion
Well, I would certainly fix my boat a lot faster.
I'd commission a new build of a Cape George 36 or 40. Maybe a Lyle Hess 34, Nor'sea 37, or Hans Christian.... or maybe one of each.

I would buy you a camera that could flip your photo's, right side up, automatically.

Re: Powerball 1.3 billion
...actually, an Island, in the tropics, out of the hurricane zone, with a marine way with 40 or so slips and all of you could come visit for free.

Re: Powerball 1.3 billion
Would anyone here actually want a mega yacht? Maybe its because im not rich but I dont think I like the idea of crew on board. To me it would feel less like my boat and more like a guided harbor cruise. Besides if I want to walk around naked I dont want to have to worry if there is any crew around. I think something in the 60 foot range would suit me fine. Maybe one in multipe locations like sailor boy.

Re: Powerball 1.3 billion
You know, we talked about this and, honestly, we don't want this obscene jack pot. We would like to pad our cruising budget a bit. 30-40 thousand a year. We would give modest amouts to our families. The rest can go to others who could actually use it to improve the most lives possible.
I'm serious. Money hasn't made me happy in the past, more won't do it either.

Re: Powerball 1.3 billion
One of the Daughters asked the other day who I would tell first if I won the jackpot.
I don't think my casual answer of 'Oyster Marine' was deemed appropriate.

Re: Powerball 1.3 billion
I would by a 50 something boat and do what I do now. My friends would be the ones I have now. I would set my family and friends up so they could do what they want and not have a worry.

You are right. Money is the great amplifier. If you ain't happy now you'll just be that much more unhappy then. Plus in reality if you were to win 1.3 billion dollars and wanted to keep it, I assure you, you would be far too busy to have anytime to go sailing.
