I wouldn't worry too much about it. I don't think they're updated annually. Lake Ontario ports don't change that much or that fast. My copy is about twenty years old. Last big change was when they tore the four sisters down. I can't find my way to Port Credit anymore.

Re: Ports Cruising Guide Lake Ontario

The main issue is that the phone numbers can change. 2012 is "good enough". Our Lake Ontario references consist of a "master" chart of the whole lake (CHS chart 2000) or just the half you want (for instance, the Western half is chart 2077). These I use to plot bearings. I use the Richardson's chart book to note fixes in pencil, and I use the Sailing Directions and Ports to find my way in to specific places.

Notices to Mariners should be heeded. I missed the one where St. Peter's Rock west of Cobourg went from a 25 foot fixed beacon to a small cardinal buoy. That wasted time!

As the Ports guides themselves state, you should have official, up-to-date charts for detailed navigation info. But yeah, other than businesses closing/renamed/new numbers, the Ports guide info remains pretty useful. I believe they're updated every three or four years.

We also use a Richardson's map for Lake Ontario. And OpenCPN.

I think Ports is only updated every 5 or 6 years. You can always use Active Captain to the latest information and I've found talking other cruisers yields useful information.
