Port Atherinos /Meganisi during the Medicane

Seems we have been lucky choosing Port Atherinos / Mganisi to hide from the Medicane - our Friends in Palairos were reporting winds
40-47kt the same time ...

Re: Port Atherinos /Meganisi during the Medicane

We made a dash through the canal into the Gulf of Corinth which I thought would escape it. Made Itea which is a very safe harbour, just as well as we recorded gusts of 45 kts and absolutely torrential rain. Not so far away, boats in Corinth harbour took a pounding.

But it was worse elsewhere. Sheltering in Itea with us was half of a 'Sailing Holidays' fleet travelling back to the Ionian. The flotilla leader had elected to leave Epidavros ahead of the storm. The other half decided to remain in Epidavros - I understand three yachts sank and the other five were badly damaged. Fortunately the crews had been taken off and no-one was hurt, but not exactly what you are looking for on a summer charter holiday.
