So what is the average age here?

I'm 65 now, so let's see, 65 divided by 65 years ... my average is one.

Aw, I was just being snippy. Some times this place just reeks of hopelessness, turmoil, stupidity and crusty old live aboards long past dreaming.

re: POLL: So what is the age here? MERGED

You've the right to ask such a question, but I wonder why it might be important to you. Are you an insurance salesman or something?

There are "kids" here - boys and girls - apparently under 35 years of age and with more sea miles already under their keel than many will ever sail in a lifetime.

There are both women and men in their middle years who've chucked the dirt-based lifestyle and succumbed to the lure of the sea.

There are "grand pa's" and "grand ma's" here who've never sailed before and recently bought a boat and joined this forum.

And, yes, there are others here who've been sailing their whole lives.

What matters age?

" l liked the serenity of the sea after a day of hard ship's work, as flying fish flitted across the wave tops and sunset gave way to night.

And I liked drifting off to sleep lulled by the myriad noises large and small that told me my ship was alive and well, and that my shipmates on watch would keep me safe."

Apologies to author unknown...
