You know they are not listening anyway. Then they retort with "These are facts.'' Love that one.

I don't think I agree. Most I read here has nothing to do about native language: it has to do with using Internet fora as a communications medium by people who are not familiar with them. IMHO, you will have to learn this, instead of trying to get the world to change their ways. You only have to RTFM about what something like FUBAR means once, instead of all others let it spell out for you every time.

Perhaps we need a series of posts discussing the excessive use of the interrogation mark

Re: Please and Thank You

is this an accepted symbol for WTF?

We could probably reduce our use of semi-secret abbreviations if we had a better selection of standard smiley faces to choose from here.

Like I've never understood it. I might use it if I did.

But it might be reckless for me to fly a solo mission in the face of strong opinion, .... because, as in the olden-day ww, opinions on the www with sixguns trump facts every time.
OK OK OK, I stand defeated but pleeeeze tell me how does one then distinguish between the possessive of a single spouse and multiple spouses?

You see, I would have thought one would use your's and yours' but clearly not so for the love of mike, how is it done???????????

Nah, the OP has to shape up or ship out. We did it so I reckon the OP can do it; no room for wimps aboard the good ship CF.

Put another way, get onboard with the programme (OK, program for the uneducated )

If you have multiple spouses you have bigger problems. But for the record it is always "yours", and never an apostrophe no matter who many spouses.

If possessed by multiple spouses (spice?), perhaps an exorcism would be in order?

Re: Please and Thank You

I always assumed the birth/berth thing was spellcheck for those typing on "smart" phones. Those things change words so fast it'll make your head spin, so I figured people just live with it/go-with-the-flow rather than fight it constantly?

WFM! 3X!!!

I love this thread [cue Toby Keith].

It reads like a Seinfeld episode. And nothing is something I know A LOT about.

I'm feeling less nitpicky (note use of more appropriate word, spelled out, than coarse bodily reference) by the post.

Maybe. Could it be the same with those who use "wench" when they mean "winch?"

At least for those people it's easy enough to just introduce them to a proper wench!
