Re: Paper charts and memories

Hi Jim
I think "activecaptain" has software to help you out with those two thousand boats and folks.
Cheers
Steve

Re: Paper charts and memories

Our best memories come from our collection of eight sequential deck logs that contain information about each of our cruising days since we bought our first live-aboard boat November 15th of 1971. Much of it is boring data, but there's also all guest crew signed in and some drawings, annecdotes, successes and mistakes. ....... the night the fish jumped onto the baited hook left hanging feet above the water .... the time I kicked the rat off the deck in Bull's Bay ...... the sighting of the "floating rock" ........ the green meteor at Staniel Cay ....... the time my seven year old son recieved and belayed the dock line for Cousteau's Calypso .....

If you want to keep the memories I'd suggest keeping a deck log!

Thanks for the hint, Steve, but in this case I'm my own "Active Captain" and set up a useful database file... has worked for quite a few years now, and I'd sure hate to have to re-enter all those names!

You can always remember that True Virgins Make Dull Company without writing it down.

Yes, Don, but all of you have left out the cure: Add Whisky.

Ahh... the stain stories a chart could tell....

Ah man... RDF was the shiznit.... I hung onto that tech far too long because I loved it...

Fantastic! You are the true Roesetta Stone for communication between generations. Only a rare few could use the words RDF and shiznit in the same sentence and I'm not among them. Guess which one I had to "google". There's a market for this skill!

My extended version: TVMDC...add "W"hiskey subtract "E"thics if "corrupting" (converting from T or M to C). To "purify" (convert from C or M to T), subtract "W"hiskey add "E"thics.

Re: Paper charts and memories

Not a chart, but paper, I retired my old passport a few days ago. I've had pages added to it 3 times (Consulate has to give special permission for 3rd addition). Like a few others who've posted, I started using this bit of paper before my wife died. I've used it hard for a decade and would like to presserve it somehow....maybe a collage of all the stamps & pages covered in epoxy.
