Re: Overdue Yacht ARTFUL DODGER
Vanuatu customs in Port Vila confirm he checked out & were already aware of the overdue status. They have contacted clearance offices further north including Gizo but no confirmed sightings

Good luck with this. I hope you find him and all is well.

Yes, it would make sense to clear out from either Luganville or Sola. Most likely Luganville, as Sola isn't reliable.
That would also help avoid overnighting, a good idea, because we found the charts of Vanuatu aren't very accurate.

Thanks Pete for your help.
It is special valuable being on site.
Although we are confident in the official way of dealing with (MRCC's etc) It is very important for us to know from you that the overdue is known and they are making the all the proper reasonable actions.
Best regards

Re: Overdue Yacht ARTFUL DODGER
fonsin,
Thanks for the thanks. Cruising Cat's remark is quite correct. The Vanuatu charts are way off.
I'm not a terrible worry wort, but I am extremely concerned for Pokerface. He is long, long overdue. Sorry. Very sorry.

Re: Overdue Yacht ARTFUL DODGER
Unfortunately, given the recent events in the Solomons and typical "island" communications I don't believe that searching for an overdue yacht is going to suck up much of their budget. It's an odd time of year to make the run to the Solomons given the nature of cyclone activity this season therefore not much likelihood of being spotted by another cruiser. Usually the Gizo run happens in November.
Kind of hope he's enjoying the attentions of a dusky maiden on a remote island but, if he is, he will need to explain himself to someone eventually.

Ann I have been reading the post of Pokerface and it is a sad story.
Please note that I am ready for help (in the scope of my possibilities) to anyone that could need it. That includes translating into spanish any alert post and eventually spreading alerts in the North Atlantic and western Mediterranean.

Athough it could be a happy ending, I guess this is not the case for the reasons I mentioned. His brother at Spain severely ill (finally died) and he was in very close contact to follow the illness evolution.
But if really is the case, of course he has to explain to many people alerted.
Thanks
