Online Replacement Sails

Good Afternoon,
I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good source for replacement sails online for my Pearson 28-2. I would like to replace my main and possibly also purchase an asymmetrical spinnaker. I'm looking for reasonable quality at a reasonable cost. Primarily inshore use with some coastal cruising. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks very much.

Regards,

Matt

Re: Online Replacement Sails

We are in Australia, but bought some sails (jib and a staysail) from Tasker sails in Thailand. They were very good sails at a competitive price. They were for a 40ft boat. We're going through the same process at the moment with a bigger boat but this time will probably buy within Australia as the price is similar here at present. Nothing wrong with the Tasker sails though.

Re: Online Replacement Sails

Depending on the type and length of your cruising, you might want to try "Second Wind Sails" ( Used Sails from Second Wind Sails ). Have also dealt with them via telephone and they were very helpful.

I have purchased from them twice now and have been satisfied with their service (Main and Jib). Both sails purchased from them were just as described on their site and FedEx'd the day of purchase.

For new sails, I purchased my new Main from Doyle out of Boston, MA (Not online but were extremely easy to deal with) and received it in less than the predicted 5-weeks lead time. I purchased my storm Jib from Tasker ( http://www.rollytasker.com ) and they were a bit slower to deliver but was happy with the quality.

Hope this helps. Fair Winds....

Re: Online Replacement Sails

I have bought sails online for my Cal 33-2 recently from National Sail Supply (Rolly Tasker) and JSI (Doyle Gulf Coast). I was happy with both. A friend has used FX Sails and their products seem decent (made by China Sail Factory I believe). Hyde Sails Direct is another option but I have no direct experience.

I purchased a mainsail through Phil at Zoom sails. He was great to deal with, the sail was shipped to Seychelles, good price, great service, very good sail.

You might want to also check in with some used sail folks, like Bacon in Annapolis, particularly for the assym which is pretty generic based on size. They refurbish sails and add whatever specific hardware you need.

A quick search shows Bacon has 8 used mains for a Pearson 28-2.

Hi Matt, Derick Warne here from Currimundi in Australia. Where are you?
We're distributors for Rolly Tasker Sails in Thailand and whilst we don't do "online sails" we do serve customers Australia wide. Where are you based?
As an indication you're looking at around US$1420 for main with one reef and 10.8m2 MPS with a sock. Be great to hear back from you. Cheers DW

Re: Online Replacement Sails

I highly recommend the Rolly Tasker sails mentioned herein. They can also be ordered stateside through Sail Warehouse, California, from their website if that helps.
