I think you win. Mallorca may be a bit beyond my travel budget so nice work, my bluff has been successfully called.

Out of genuine interest, what does "90% immunity on an everyday level against all local infections in an individuals habitat" really signify...? As in, 10% of the strains of pathogens out there are capable of causing illness if you are infected with them, whereas the other 90% would be suppressed by the immune system with no signs of illness?

Re: OMG. What's the Point?

Not really. It originated from the discussion of overcrowded cruise ships, traveling, and the possibility you might end up with something you didn't expect.

The other part of the discussion was the authenticity of traveling on a vessel. You're locked on a ship but really in a theme park, cut off from the outside world and nature.

The river cruise at least you get some "culture". The big ships come in but barely touch it.

I know, French covering up on their beaches. Germans with clothes on , Italians bring in nudity bans. This is starting to get serious folks. Next well be as bad as the Anericans.

I could not agree more. I think this is a reference to crowded cruise ships lit up like cities. The old expression here in the U.S. was: "How many sardines can they cram into this can?" This has been a tough couple of years for cruise lines.

Here's the 'Murican way: bikinis and extra long board shorts. These are almost biking shorts pedal pushers.

I'll have what he's having, please.

If you have ever been on any of these ships, you will release how big they are , hence they do not feel crowded. Given the huge number of types of cruises , suitable for all types of tastes ,( party animal, education , obscure places, even wind jammers ) anyone can find a cruise to their liking.

As for lights at sea, try approaching a oil field , or even a big factory ship and it's numerous fishing vessels etc. Loads of lights

Personally I like cruise ships at night, always very courteous bridge crew, generally good English and they have the best of bridge gear. They always go out of their way to help little old me in my WAFI - ness

Re: OMG. What's the Point?

One of the biggest reasons I want to cruise is to escape the huddled masses, please tell me that it's so. I know if I chose to go to the popular destinations, it will be crowded, but one reason I had a "bush" plane was to fly the NWT, miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles, absolute solitude.
I have this fantasy of being able to find secluded anchorages in paradise, especially in the Pacific, is it not so? Yes I know it will be work, lots of sweat and a little terror every now and again, and boredom, hours and hours of boredom, but these places do exist still don't they?
You guy's that like cruise ships, your the "normal" cruisers?
