Re: Okay 'fess up!

Maybe I can't appreciate it yet, but we're getting to wants or missing it. What about the stuff that feels so far away ... Makes you ache or wistful.

Re: Okay 'fess up!

Bad weather is a hassle. I can do without bad weather. Everything on board is much harder when the weather is miserable.

During one of our cruises to New Caledonia, the weather was unsettled for six months with reinforced tradewinds that blew us away. Everything is more difficult in challenging weather. When weather pummels you month after month, it is a bit irritating.

During one six month cruise in Fiji, we had a solid month of rain. Perpetual rain is a good recipe for cabin fever.

One of the best things about living on land (outside of tornado zones) is that you can largely ignore the weather. You are inside and the weather is outside where it belongs.

Re: Okay 'fess up!

The one and only thing I occassionally miss from my previous land-based life is:

MY VERY GOOD HIFI SYSTEM WITH A STATE-OF-THE-ART PHONOGRAPH AND MY COLLECTION OF VINYL.....MOSTLY BLUES AND JAZZ.

it sucks....to know it is sitting in a storage in the other half of the world!

But would I ever even consider going back and settling on land or even in my native country? NO WAY! This beats it BIG TIME

BTW- Ditto on the bad weather, condesation and mold onboard while wintering over in high latitudes was a bit miserable at times

Tropical warm aqua clear water and lots of reef to explore ... for me to find new species with my camera and David to get dinner! Back in Florida for a refit, we miss snorkeling for hours every day.

Sounds like my "rich big brother" (the one that has over $1mil in personal debt). I am the "po' lil' budder" who doesn't have much money and even less debt (at least no one can put a lean on my boat).

But I do own my boat outright (that's my house).
don't drive, am trieing to limit clothes, no credit cards, laptop is my flatscreen and does a 1.2 horse outboard count as a pony.

Best way to be then you know where you stand and the ponies you have are the ponies you need
