Re: Nor' Sea 27'
For a solid, full keel readily trailerable boat the NS 27 is hard to beat and there's a fair amount of them out there. We looked at them a few years back but decided to go bigger. If you're looking at offshore work they can do it if you can and there's plenty more in that size range that can as well (browse bkuewaterboats.org for more) but if you're just looking for a coastal cruiser with a trailer there are also many other options out there. That said to trailer the NS you'll need a heafty tow beast as well.

Re: Nor' Sea 27'
Base price was $151,000 without trailer, but I don't think they make boats anymore try calling that phone number on the website.

Re: Nor' Sea 27'
Thanks for your replies, are there any boats in the same class that are as tough and sea worthy as Nor' Sea 27'?

Re: Nor' Sea 27'
I think if you want to trailer a boat then the NS is a decent choice. IF not there are much better boats out there. More beam, more room, more headroom inside, better draft for going to weather etc. The NS27 is a pretty small boat inside.

Cheech,
The Northsea 27 was my first choice for a boat before I bought my Pearson 34-II but it was far too spartan and small for the female in my life. Being a small boat sailor most of my life, I loved the simplicity and the ruggedness of construction and the traditional lines. However, as Thomm has stated there are many boats in that size range that would be better than a NS 27 and his Bristol 27 would be my choice of the boats listed for quality, lines and sailing ability. Good luck and safe sailing, Rognvald

Re: Nor' Sea 27'
There are trailerable boats and then there are boats that can somehow be put on a trailer. some boats with full keels need a semi truck to haul them around on their trailer. That gets pricey in a hurry.
if you look at boats with swing centerboards they make life on a trailer less of a problem. But these boats are more for shallow water work like Bahamas, Rivers, Bay systems like San Francisco Delta or Chesapeake Bay.
You need a 1 ton dully diesel to pull some of these babies around. Especially if you have any mountain ranges to deal with when travelling to far off locations. Pacific Seacraft is an excellent boat built here in USA. Check them out in your search.

That's a great point, Alan and one that many sailors do not consider before purchasing a trailer-able boat. Your fuel efficient Toyota Prius just won't cut the mustard. Good luck and safe sailing.

Re: Nor' Sea 27'
My Contessa 26 had a trailer, but the COntessa is not a shallow draft boat, so it was "up there" on the trailer. I pulled it fine with a F250 Diesel pickup. But the damn thing made me very nervous. I would definitely get a shallow draft for trailering or a swing keel boat. The Hake 26 would be high on my list. But new boats are very expensive....

Re: Nor' Sea 27'
A gentleman a few boats down form me has one in beautiful shape and she has every bell and whistle packed into her! I am sure he loves her, but it is still, to my mind, a lot of money for not much boat, albeit a very good little boat. If you are in that market and you see a Columbia 29 in good shape, it too is built very well, performs better, has a tad more room, and is FAR less expensive.
