New wreckage San Blas: trying to locate owner

One more new wreckage on the reef in San Blas, Panama. No people on board, we are trying to locate the owner. Location of the wreck is E Coco Bandero. Has anyone seen this boat before? it some kind of characteristic little flags on the stern and a bright blue transom. No name and no flag on it.

Is there an HIN number engraved(molded) into the top right corner of the transom? That will tell you the builder ,model and year. It might help you figure out who it belongs to. Good Luck. _____Grant.

Re: New wreckage San Blas: trying to locate owner

Is there any paper work inside that might show a native language? If it is in English the US Coast Guard could trace the HIN if it was documented. (or the Brits could do the same). If the transom is painted over and no name showing it could be stolen. Enough speculation on my part. ____Grant.

Does it look like it was anchored before it hit the reef?
Looks like marine salvage to me.

Looks like someone has tried to pull her off the reef... look at her forward pipework.

If this be the case then you will ask the boats anchored nearby, someone may know more on the adventure and the skipper.

On the pictures you can see the Kunas on board.... the boat is probably empty now. Don't leave a boat in that situation in San-Blas, it will be "cannibalised" and not only by Kunas.

Bummer. For the boat, for the reef and for the owner.

A moment of silence please for another dream lost.

Anyone know the wreck count for this season in the San Blas?

Usually about 6 per year.

Usually some combination of poor seamanship, fatigue, drugs, alcohol...all bad things to mix with a complex reef system.

See thread on San Blas wrecks here:

A few other threads on CF about individual wrecks.
