New to sailing

After having the sailing bug for many years, my wife and I are seeking our first boat. I have found a 2002 Hunter 326 in very good condition (at what I consider a very fair price) and mentioned this to few associates who are "more experienced" with sail boats and sailing. These associates made various comments on the design of the boat.

A general question would be for anyone who has had experience with this year and/or model as to the good and bad points of it, how it will sail (lake sailing only) and would it be a good starter boat for a family.

As a side comment, we will be taking keel boat certification courses before setting out on the local lake.

Thank you,

Buy it and enjoy it. Hunters have supporters and detractors but if she sings to you, great. After a few years you may want something faster, sturdier, more comfortable, or whatever, but Hunter is usually a lot of boat for the money.
