When I read this "Pistol packing momma", I thought maybe it could go in the piracy thread or start a new thread of Texas sailing songs. But then remembered Texans are usually packing anywhere they go, right? Even the OR right Ocean Girl?

Randy: Bumper sticking is what the truckers expect, if you have a CB call them and let them know you are there and they will pull you willingly. Did that all the time when I was traveling. Plus they usually have a handle on the speed traps out there. Although you might have to tell them you are 25yrs blond and blue eyed to get there cooporation. Can you talk in a high pitch...Ha

Where do you plan to keep your boat?

We are going to keep her at Legend Point Marina for right now. That is if all goes well with the sale. Looks great so far. Scheduled test sail for a Wednesday after next.

Raindog we are in Leander, we sailed Lake Travis for several years on a 14' O'day. It was very fun. Somedays it was great. The wind we found was switchy out there. But loved sailing up to the marina for lunch was great.

Lake Travis is pretty ideal. Always windy and where else can you sail in Force 9 just for fun? I often sail it at night and pretty much have the whole lake to myself. Luckily I sold my Lake Travis boat to my main sailing buddy, so I can still sail there on the weekdays. I spend weekends in Seabrook now. I am at the Seabrook Shipyard. Hope to see you around. I will be keeping my eyes peeled for a Lord Nelson with a very happy crew!

My mom is having a book signing at the West Marine (kemah) on Dec 5th from 11-1pm. Feel free to stop by and say "hi". She wrote a book about sailing around the world, its called "The Oceans Are Waiting" By Sharon Ragle

Hope to see you there,
Erika

Re: New Texas Social Group

I put my Cal25 on a trailer and parked it in my yard to do a bottom job. I'm sanding it down to fiberglass now. I HATE sanding! I'm in Orange, TX.

Re: New Texas Social Group

I've just seen this thread today. I'm a native have a little Hunter 23.5 and keep it on a trailer in Kemah with the mast up so it only takes a few minutes to get into and out of the water. I have noticed there are several Texans on this board so,,,Howdy Ya'll.

I spent 6 months or so in Texas in 1975. I liked the people. I like the eastern part more. Not so much the dry west. Gotta have trees and water. I came away saying "howdy" which got me looks in Florida. I learned "goat roper" too but one is careful with that eh?

I think when the rest of the country goes completely Ape Ass PC I will move to Texas for some sanity and help with the secession.

Hopefully I can bring more boat with me than just the Jon boat. I already have a gun or two..............

Sorry for the politics and gun stuff.

Re: New Texas Social Group

:-) we are probably the only texans who have never fired a gun.. I do have a family member who as a conceal gun licenses. It's really wild when I realize that as I chat with him, he has a gun strapped to his waist. Luckily, he is very laid back, very safety oriented, and slow to temper.

Lots of texans here, welcome aboard Tallswede

We had a few CF BBQs a while back, but I got out of touch a bit. Maybe we ought to organize a CF "meet up" in the fall? We could combine it with Harvest Moon Regatta maybe..?

Another Texas transplant checking in. I missed this post somehow. We (and the boat) are in the Kemah area and currently are suffering through the summer of the mosquito it seems.
