Re: New Marine Weather and tide Site

I want to thank everyone who tried Weather.L-36.com. I was able to review many of your setups and found several problems that have been fixed and wanted to close the loop and let you know what they were. I would put them in 4 categories:

1) Marine Zone Data Base. In a few cases, setup would select invalid zones which led to a blank or incorrect marine forecast.

2) Tide Table. Tide locations with non-alphanumeric characters would prevent the tide table from loading and in some cases crash the entire page.

3) The wrong Satellite image was being used in some cases for the Mid Atlantic and North Atlantic regions.

4) Many small formatting improvements.

Items 1 to 3 are fixed but may require a refresh of your setup. There is a message and link to the quickest way to refresh at the top of the main page. Any future refreshes will be even quicker to refresh. Custom Edits may have to be redone.

Item 4 is ongoing but does not require a setup refresh. The latest changes are aimed at improving the experience on a smart phone.

I thank you all for the enthusiastic response. I have literally been working day and night to keep up with these issues and improvements. I have viewed hundreds of setups and feel the product is much better for the testing you all have done. I hope you continue to use it and remember, it is and will always be free.

Please feel free to let other know about the site.

Re: New Marine Weather and tide Site

There have been no bugs found since fixing the ones found from the testing people on this forum did. Thank you for making a stable site.

Re: New Marine Weather and tide Site

If you'd work up a better forecast for this coming weekend in Sausalito, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Re: New Marine Weather and Tide Site

Allen, Thanks for this site. Looks good. I am sailing from Puerto Rico to the Chesapeake Bay this April 20th and will let you know how well it went with using your site for weather. Ron

Re: New Marine Weather and Tide Site

I have decided to declare the page released (version 1.0) as it is stable at this point. I have also posted a link to a test version that includes the SHIP and Drifting Buoy data. It is incorporated into the existing Data Station section and shares the search radius but can include up to 24 hours of observations for the ships and drifting buoys settable in the sections edit page. If you all like it, I will update the main page to include it.

Still more updates and improvements in the works based on your inputs.

To get to the new test version, click on the link in the sub title. You will need to do that after every location change. Let me know if there are any glitches.

Allen:

Thanks for all your hard work ...
sitting out in the cockpit at Oyster Cove with a glass of burgundy (it's not only 5 o'clock somewhere ... but here too!) ... have it downloaded and bookmarked on my laptop ... and now on my HTC Evo ... just entered Brisbane and voila!

Great information all in one place ... thanks again ...
