Re: New Marine Weather and tide Site

Sweet Allene....Just what I was looking for. BTW it looks great on my Sprint EVO mobile. FWIW The only thing I would change would be to move the "Area Discussion" lower on the page. Seeing all the charts first for a good quick visual then if needed I could do some reading.
Nice job, I think you are on to something, I have already sent the link to three buddies.....Keep up the great work

Re: New Marine Weather and tide Site

Wow, thanks for all the nice comments. Lots of people have hit the site today. I want to let everyone know that if you have a problem, let me know and I will fix it. In looking at my logs, I see several issues particularly round the Great Lakes and one in the Florida Keys having to do with the Marine Forecast Zones. I am fixing them as soon as I can find them. It turns out that I was initially using zones that will not be valid until next week (fixed that) and I am finding out that there are a lot of errors in the NOAA database. I will fix that as well. This is beta stuff afterall.

Thanks again for the kind words and please feel free to let people know and to click on the "Contact" link and let me know if there are problems with your area.

This is a great forum.

Re: New Marine Weather and tide Site

Very nice site, well laid out. I used to have to go to several different sites to get all that info. Thanks. Works great for here in the San Juan Islands, WA.

Re: New Marine Weather and tide Site

Love it! Very handy.

Just curious -- I ran it for Provincetown, MA, and it shows the tide chart twice, but the second chart had some of its tide times off by a minute from the first one. (?)

In any case, this is fantastic -- the sort of stuff I usually have to visit 3 or 4 websites to gather.

Allen:

Much nicer layout than using the NOAA site. I especially like having the nearby buoy data right there. I tip my cap to you in thanks.

The tide data base I use it the sum many data bases so there are some duplicates. I try and remove them but missed some. In this case the two are
1) Provincetown, Cape Cod Bay, Massachusetts
2) Provincetown, Massachusetts

Obviously the same spot but not to the program. So, I changed it so that the second tide zone, which tries very hard to present a current zone, will not present two zones within 5 mile of each other. Perhaps that should be more or less but as they can always be edited to whatever you want, I am not sure it matters that much. I am happy to change that distance if people express some interest in a different number. The program will pick a current zone if it is within 25 miles.

Thanks for the input. I is feedback like this that has made the program better.

I tried several zoom levels before picking this one. It allows you to easily get within the resolution on a point forecast zone, about 5% of the screen, and yet covers about 50 miles which I would think would be within the initial location entry. That said, I am always open to adding what people want but first let me see if I understand your requirement. Do you want to be able to zoom out, in other words you think not enough territory is covered, or do you need to zoom in to set your location more accurately? Also, are you talking about the initial map or the one on the edit screen for the point forecast?

Now if you could only change all those temperatures in the 30s to temps in the 70s. . . .

I can't change the weather but I can take bugs out of the program and I have been doing that day and night. If any of you had problems, chances are they have been solved. I am stuck at this moment on some of the tide locations not working (ones with ' marks above the letter) and am working on that.

If you had problems, please run "Change Location" so that setup will run again to clear the problem.

I am keeping a log of bug fixes that you can see by clicking on the Beta number at the top of the page. I will also list any bugs I have not fixed there.

Also, if you send me an email with a description of the problem, it will get top priority and you will get a reply when it is fixed.

Most impressive. I've already e-mailed links to three friends.
