Re: Navigation lights and wet passages

In my case with an Aquasignal 40, the fixture was fine, but the wiring to the fixture was not. A previous owner used standard cable (wire not tinned) and it was corroded to the point of being dangerous. Pulled new cable from the anchor locker through the pulpit and rewired the fixture.

Re: Navigation lights and wet passages

My Aquasignal bow light fixture quit after taking a lot of over-the-bow waves offshore. The contacts corroded. I cleaned them up and sealed everything I could see with silicone. That did the trick--they were still working after many more dunkings.

Need to check the LED replacement bulbs as I believe you use a colored led rather than a white in the port and stbd nav lights

Re: Navigation lights and wet passages

I have saw both on the market (color and white) and I have on my boat a green one. It is really a very deep green but the intensity is low.

On mine... the one I replaced... the wiring was tinned and was OK.... the problem was with the bayonet fitting itself...'sloppy fit' may best describe it.... combined with the degradation of the plastic lens I decided to replace it. I had a similar prob with the masthead tri which I fixed.

Re: Navigation lights and wet passages

Bow mounted navigation lights have a tough life and failure is not uncommon.

Buy good quality LED units and check them.
When dark adapted you can see the glow of the red, green, or white light of the lower navigation lights reflected in the waves. You just have to look, but there is no need to leave the cockpit.
