I was once standing on Orient Beach on the French side of St. Martin Island in the Caribbean when I made the mistake of looking out toward the water and what met my eyes was the entire rail of a catamaran loaded up with naked butts. Apparently it was a gay cruise and it sails around the bay with everyone naked for a few hours several times a week.

All for sailing Nekkid..as appropriate...I'm all for the sarong thing too...

Google "Utilikilt." An eminently suitable garment..

Brass keeps pushing me to do a retirement ceremony..I finally told them I would, but only if the uniform could be dress jockstraps and swim fins with mini medals...they pretty much left me alone after that...except one young lady who seemed intrigued by the idea..hmm..

I guess you didn't have any trouble trolling the little "lure" on the lower side.

I have heard that it can attract unappreciated attention while swimming.

True? I don't know.

"hung" up?

Well, getting cancers cut off spoiled what I used to think about being tan at all. Then there was that freaking bald thing that happened. But my captain's hat took care of that. Then, my own children insisted I give up my swimmin and divin speedo! O the injustice! (I only wore a speedo diving but I thought it was a funny line.)

I cover up on the boat tho I often swim nekkid. But reading this thread suggests that a lot of you sail sans suits. It sounds daring and liberated and all but I don't think so. I've been sailing 60 years now, mostly below 30 degrees of N lat, and I doubt I've seen a couple of dozen naked sailors. Not counting planned drunken orgies. Yes, I've seen a zillion topless gals [thank you Jesus!] but real live naturists? Not so much.

Works better on a bumper sticker.

Long term cruisers in the hot tropics/Caribbean do not sail naked, but we do live naked. Inside the boat which is baking in the tropical sun all day the temperature and humidity get right up there and wearing any clothing is a waste of time and temperature. However up on deck there is usually some breeze and for sure a very intense sun just waiting to feed your melanomas. So clothing, at least shorts and t-shirts are standard.
- - Underway is another different matter. There are too many blunt and dangerous things attached all over the boat that can dent/rip/grab your skin or other parts unless you have clothing on. Better to rip the clothing than your personal hide.
- - Getting little/large protruding body parts caught in winches or line clutches while adjusting things could really change you social life if not the pitch of your voice. It is just too dangerous to actively sail a boat while not wearing protective clothing of some sort.
- - However once the anchor is down and set and the locals conditions permit, some skinny dipping to wash off the sweat and grime from sailing is the best. I swear the Germans invented "sugar scoop" sterns so they could take a naked shower before dinner and some of them have definitely had too much wiener schnitzel.

I posted my naked bum here ONCE, and the thread went downhill from there. Seems it was okay to post some wicked weasels with flesh peeking out the sides. Maybe the complaint was the glare from those untanned buns?.........i2f

The only thing better then seeing my wife sailing in one of her Wicked Weasel bikinis is to see her sailing out of her WW bikini.
